The Edmonton Town Centre is the heart of the Southern Growth Corridor.
The Edmonton Town Centre will be the primary major Regional Activity Centre servicing the future residential, retail, economic, medical and transit demand of southern Cairns
The Town Centre will ultimately serve a catchment area population of in excess of 80,000 in the broader South Cairns region. On completion the Town Centre will generate in excess of 7,000 of direct new jobs.
The site is located 12 kilometres south of the Cairns CBD and is currently used for growing sugar cane, one of the last remaining farms still in operation in the area.
The site has been nominated and endorsed by the Cairns Regional Council and the Queensland Government as the future Edmonton Town Centre.
The availability of the blank canvas site, provides an opportunity for the Mann Family, as habitual owners of the land for the past 114 years, to realise and share their vision for a fully intergrated and service orientated development, within the greater Edmonton community.
The completed development will be the regions first mixed use Town Centre containing major retailers, speciality stores, dining and entertainment precincts, residential dwellings, hospital, open spaces and parklands, commercial, medical, community and civic amenities.
The Edmonton Town Centre will be a pedestrian friendly place, based around a Town Square and Main Street concept with mixed use service buildings fronting the streets and functional laneways favouring retailers and cafes. The Town Centre has also been nominated as a major destination on the proposed Cairns Transit network.
The Cairns Regional Council regional recently approved the Edmonton Town Centre Amendment to the Cairns Plan.
The Master Plan which has been prepared following community and stakeholder input, will be lodged with Council in December 2011. Once the Master Plan is endorsed, development applications will be lodged with construction expected to commence shortly thereafter.
